Here is the
recipe for spicy baked fish - the Indian way. Any kind of fish can be used for this - either the
soft kind like Tilapia, catfish etc or the firmer ones like
king fish, salmon etc. It
goes well with rice.
Any kind of
fish can be used for this - either the soft kind like Tilapia,
catfish etc or the firmer ones like king fish, salmon etc.
Clean and cut the fish into pieces or use smaller fillets
without cutting (like the 4oz fillets). If using fish with soft
skin on (the kind that doesn't require skinning), make shallow
cut marks about 1 inch apart on both sides of large pieces to
make sure the marinade seeps through.
Grind ginger, peppercorns,
pearl onion and curry leaves and mix in chilly powder, turmeric
powder, salt and little water to make a thick smooth paste.
Coat the fish
pieces with this spice paste and marinate for 1/2 hour to 1
hour.
Mix
together the chopped onion, tomatoes & cilantro in a bowl with
little salt and lemon juice.
Lay out each fillet on pieces
of aluminium foil. Sprinkle chopped tomatoes, onion, cilantro,
lemon juice mix on each. Sprinkle 1 tsp of oil over each.
Wrap up each fillet in
aluminium foil as shown in above picture.
Bake at 350 deg. F for 30 mins.
(Time depends
on kind of fish)
Serve hot with
rice.
Note :
This does not come out very spicy
because of all the toppings. So add more pepper if you like your fish
spicy.
